メリキリストマス, Melekalikimaka & Merry Christmas 🎄🌟

Shout out to the uncle Bob (mostly cousin Lauren lol) Horito fam for the CHIP COOKIES! Also to my gorl Johanna for the Christmas card, and kinder chocolates all the way from Austria :’)

This past Sunday my companion and I taught relief society. Our lesson was on teaching repentance and baptizing converts. Throughout the week we thought about our assignment, studied and prepared a lesson. Right before we were going to teach we realized we should've had more prepared to fill up our time, so we just said a quick prayer and hoped for the best...sure enough the Lord provided. We actually almost went over time, it was such a cool experience to give all that we had and have the spirit help us with the rest. We felt like we started with only 5 loaves of bread and two little fishes, but we ended up with so much more.

Update on our friends Iwagi San and Tsukamoto San:

Our lesson with Iwagi San went smoothly (our Japanese was decent and questions were really good), but we should’ve listened to the spirit more. He’s a very simple man, and going through a lot right now with recovering from his near death experience, not having a job and preparing for a surgery next month. We’re keeping him in our prayers and are going to help him so much he has no idea.

Tsukamoto Sans lesson was really good, we taught her about the plan of salvation and how it blesses families. She followed through with our invitation to pray, she felt good but she’s still too scared to pray in front of us. We taught her about the Book of Mormon, followed up by giving her own copy, and lastly we invited her to read it. We showed her Moroni 10:4-5 and invited her to pray with sincerity to know if it is true. Hopefully that wasn’t to bold of us to do but it felt right, once again she seems very accepting of the things we teach her, I’m excited to see how our next lesson will go.

JOLEY SHIMAI

Gonna take a minute to brag about how my どうりみょ (dōryo/companion) is my hero. Although I’m the “senior companion” I’m always looking up to her. This sister is the best I’m telling you, she’s been such a blessing to me here also she reminds me of my mom. She’s so incredibly patient with me and everyone around, she’s thinks my jokes are so funny, she finds happiness in literally everything, she never speaks of anyone in a negative way, she’s always positive, has such profound thoughts and comments, always takes the high road, opens the door and holds it until everyone has gone through, let’s me borrow her clothes, scratches my back when I rest my eyes during devotionals (only a couple times), likes to pet the MTC cat with me, lets me choose what we’re gonna do for exercise time etc. She’s also been a comfort to me on my bad and sad days. It feels so good having her as my companion because I trust her so much, she truly inspires me to become a better person.

Today we didn’t go to the temple because it’s closed :( all goods tho.

Instead I went to the doctors then walked to the BYU health center to pick up a prescription. We practiced our people skills and talked to a girl that was waiting next to us. Her name is Ashley, she’s a member, she’s a year younger than us, this is her first semester at BYU, and she’s studying international relations. It was a lot funner than it sounds.

God is good, the lord provides.

Have a Merry Christmas, don’t forget to light the world 🌎 🌟
