Happy Easter Everybody🌷🐣🌸
Keeping it pretty short today-
My first night here in Kariya was pretty memorable. When we came home for curfew our lock wasn't working. It took a while for us to figure things out and long story short, our district leader Elder Hamblin broke in our 2nd story apartment.
Kariya is pretty opposite of my bean area (Suwa❤). Suwa was cold, had lots of mountains and hills, a cute little branch, a lake and was country side. Kariya is nice and warm, very flat (nice for biking), has a big established ward here, it's a peninsula surrounded by the ocean and is a decent size city. Also theres a Costco here :,)
My new companion is Tasker Shimai. She's from New Mexico and went to BYU Provo for a year before her mission. She's also 1/4 Japanese like me ;) Since she's my follow up trainer that means she's my dad haha. She's way cool and I'm excited to work with her and see some miracles.
On Sunday we got invited to a Brazilian barbecue from a family that the sisters found last transfer. This style of barbecue they have is called churrasco(chuhasco). Everything was SO good I can't even describe it. This area has a lot of Brazilians, in fact we have a lot of Brazilian missionaries here that are called specifically to teach them. One of Elders (Elder Correa) is Brazilian, so we brought them with us and it was really cool because both him and I taught some of the people at the barbecue the Plan of Salvation and The Restoration translating between both of our different languages! We taught a lot of these people at the Barbecue and so many of them seem prepared for our message. I must say it was a pretty successful churrasco.
I have a really good feeling about one of our friends we teach. Her name is Meiru and she is adorable. She likes to sing and play the Ukulele! After our first lesson with her she took us to this outdoor stage by the train station and signed up to perform and just performed 2 songs for us like it was nothing. I was so proud of her :,) Anyways, she's had some really awesome spiritual experiences recently and I just feel really good about her!
