Nagoya Higashi, Kariya | Week 2 T.7 :: General Conference Was Amazing

Nagoya Higashi, Kariya | Week 2 T.7 :: General Conference Was Amazing

Hey everyone :)

This week was much better than the last. I've been adjusting better back here in Kariya.

We are also SAFE from the big hurricane Hagibis that just hit us on Saturday.

We had koukans (exchanges) on Tuesday with our sister training leader Jones Shimai and her companion Ongosia Shimai who is a new missionary. They both came to our area and I was with Jones Shimai, and Ongosia Shima was with my comp Hemi Shimai. It was INSANE. Jones Shimai and I taught 5 lessons on the street, got someone's contact info and had a really good visit with a ward member! I was so proud of my comp because even though shes transfer 4 and Ongosia Shimai is transfer 1, they taught 2 lessons on the street and visit a ward member as well! Good start to the week.

Wednesday we visit a really nice part member family from the Philippines. We are going to meet with them again this week :) Later we went with Hanai shimai (the ward member who picks us up EVERY Wednesday night at 6:30 to visit less actives and gives us fresh bread) aka, the MVP. LOVE HER<3 We went to visit someone who lives 1 hour away by car. It's was a good visit. We only had time to just visit her because it took so long to get there, bless Hanai Shimais soul. I really love Hanai Shimai, she's truly amazing. Just spending time with her is so fun, also It's cool because I understand her really well now! (When I was a transfer 3 I had no idea what she was saying to me) I love talking to her <3

Thursday was our usual visit with the family in ward which was alright, we felt kind of off that night. They live right next a Brazilian food shop that Tasker Shimai used to take me to after our lessons over there so I showed Hemi Shimai and we now love it. Last week I said hello to the cashier and she was super nice so I had a small conversation with her and she ended up giving us some free treats :,) This week I dendoued her (shared the Gospel with her) I gave her our card, pamphlet and invited her to our upcoming halloween party. She was so sweet and ended up giving us a TON of free Brazilian treats/food!

We had a lesson with a girl we talked to last week who aparently used to be taught by our sister training leader (Jones shimai) because this area was her training area last year summer. Anyways we met her at a mall, but she came super late and we had another appointment so it was very brief, but I think she likes us and wants to meet again.

Met H San! He is someone they found last transfer who is now going to be baptized. He is the most prepared person I've ever met. Hemi Shimai talked to him in a combini (7/11 kinda place) and the rest is history! Long story short, he wants to become a better person and had slight interest in Christianity as well. He's found our message to be quite interesting, he's a very intelligent and logical person. His testimony is really cool because it's very logic based, but also based upon the spirit as well. When he has questions (he has a lot) he prays about it. That's one of my favorite things about him is when he prays. He has an actual conversation with Heavenly Father and its the most sincere and pure thing I've heard. We recently taught him the law of tithing and he was a little concerned but by the end of the lesson he really understood and he felt even more peace after listening to general conference. In our tithing lesson we used a tatoe (example), we had 10 pieces of candy, he gave us back one of them and then we gave him a chocolate cake to show him that God takes that little bit we give him and turns into something amazing! Also one more fun fact about him, he speaks English. He does not want us to speak to him in Japanese. He's basically fluent, the funny thing is he learned English from a German teacher (I think), so he has a really thick German accent lol. He's getting baptized this month on the 27th!! Please keep him in your prayers.

We had Saturday morning sesion of General conference at the Judds on Friday morning because of the big typhoon that was supposed to hit us on Saturday. We made super yummy doughnuts after wards. It was delicious.

Speaking of delicious, my companion and I get along really well because we both enjoy making good meals (lettuce wraps, stir fry, salmon, avocado chicken, coconut shrimp, cookies, haupia, crepes etc.) all that good stuff. We decided that If this transfer were to have a theme it would be "fat and happy". Were doing good out here.

On Saturday all the missionaries had to stay inside the whole day, it didn't hit my area too bad but my last area Fujieda, got hit pretty bad. We were very prepared if it were to hit us though. Please keep the people of Japan who have been affected by Hurricane Hagibis in your prayers.

General conference was amazing, as always. It's cool to listen to it as a missionary because not only was I thinking of myself, my family and friends. I also thought about many of my investigators and other missionaries as well. For times sake, I won't go into detail. I left this conference feeling a lot of guidance, I felt like many of my questions were answered and felt little promptings of inspiration to do certain things. One of them was writing a letter to a dear family member of mine. I hope you all got something good out of conference for yourselves. I hope we can follow Sister Craig's counsel to act immediately to the promptings that we have received.

Love you all so much and hope you have a wonderful week!
